About Issy

The Early Years

Born in Bolton to two proud parents, it was very apparent Issy would much prefer to be around animals than people. You would always find her with cats, dogs, birds, goats, rabbits etc. Issy was introduced to horses at a very young age, and it was love at first ride.

She instantly got the bug, between horse riding and singing her free time was split. Issy started riding at a local riding centre, and frequently attended pony days and weeks. She had several favourites whom she always wanted to take home with her!

Issy’s family are her number one fans. They have always supported her during all of her concerts and shows whilst she was centre stage singing, and now continue to support her in all of her dressage training and competitions. They are extremely proud of her and are excited to watch her as she follows her dreams.

Issy’s First

Dressage Event

“My very first dressage competition was back in 2013, with my beautiful, one of a kind It’s A Velvisto. I was very nervous and had no idea what to expect! Under the watchful eye of my trainer Stephanie Holker, I was able to relax, enjoy and experience this whole new world which excited and fascinated me.

Having never done dressage or any horse competition before, I was going for experience and a clue into what the dressage world was like. I can tell you now I liked it. Not just liked it, I loved it!

This was the moment I had found what I was supposed to do, my passion and one true calling. From this day forwards I have never looked back, continuing to learn and pursue my aspirations and dreams.”

Dressage Success

After three hard years of learning and practice, I am delighted to now say that me and It’s A Velvisto have qualified for the NAF Five Star Winter Dressage Championships at Hartpury!

I feel like this is a massive achievement and I hope that I can continue to qualify for this wonderful event in years to come.

Butina has also had her first British Dressage debut, which was incredibly successful even scoring 8’s! She has a super future ahead of her and I am really excited to explore her talents fully!

Goals & Ambitions

My main goal is to enjoy and better myself as a rider every day. Staying passionate to a sport I love, whilst learning and growing with my horses. I hope to one day train and compete alongside the best riders and horses in the world, finding out how special dressage truly is.

How I aim to achieve this is simple, staying relaxed and focused whilst being empathic and enthusiastic towards training, never rushing the process and understanding what I want to accomplish before expecting more from myself or the horse.

Associating with superior companies who share the same aspirations I do, and those which are a true reflection of hard work and passion- something in which we both have in common. I indefinitely and undoubtedly believe in myself and my horses, with hard work and practice anything is possible.

My journey is only just beginning and I hope that you continue to follow my story.

“You must be passionate, you must dedicate yourself, and you must be relentless in the pursuit of your goals. If you do, you will be successful.”

Steve Garvey

“I call horses ‘divine mirrors’ – they reflect back the emotions you put in. If you put in love and respect and kindness and curiosity, the horse will return that.”
